Leaders of the Free World

Read this article.

My observation
The leaders of five countries are paid more than 10 times of the average GDP per person (i.e Kenya, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa, Hongkong). The other countries show a ratio of less than 10 times.

Seriously, for US$2,183,516, are we getting VALUE FOR MONEY?

To think simply how many times of the c'try GDP might be a little misleading. Singapore's GDP is many times that of Kenya.

If you convert Kenya PM's salary and use our GDP...he is only making 8X our GDP while LHL earns about 41X our GDP. We must also look at the size of GDP & population for a better gauge

Our GDP per haed is just about 2~3K more than USA but LHL earns more 5.4 X Obama's salary.

can see that our leader already set a very high standard as his KPI, to increase our country average GDP per person from current USD54k to USD218k...

this article tell us we must study very hard, join a good political party, be a politician and try to be the prime minister.

i hope opposition party can announce and list down if they become government how much each of their minister and mp will get in salary.

in this way voters will have a very good reason to vote for opposition as they know this type of high salary will no longer in place if they become government.

Two years ago we have no problem paying our Ministers gigantic remuneration for their services to our country, but the past two years, we feel they do not deserve
such high pay given their cock up
performance. How do you justify
taxpayers sacrifices when such Ministers lost billions of our hard-earned moneys, allow a LIMPING but highly dangerous terrorist to escape right under their noses, lousy drainage system
that made people lose millions of dollars, investors losing hundreds or millions dollars out of MAS's
negligence, laxity and ignorance of foreign investment products sold here, etc., etc..., and still think so highly of themselves and still thinking we are so daft at
making decisions during GE.
When it is to their advantage they want to be a strict nanny, and when it is not, they say we are no longer babies, already an adult, and make our decsions with our eyes open.
And rubbing salt into our wounds, they are still losing our moneys
overseas, what would happen to our
GIC's stake if BP is nationalsed again by the British Govt? Sell them quickly to cut losses, like what Ho Ching did with Barclays' stake - buy high and sell low?

At least 66.6% of our population think that they are getting value for money for our leaders.

It is so lucrative (and perhaps easy) to be a PAP politician that some Mediacorp artistes are actually contemplating a politician career as their next move.

To Anon 3:08 PM

That was 4 year ago.

Change takes place everyday. If ruling party thinks like you, they would probably call the election tomorrow.

They may have to take the litmus test.
