I have just received a parking fine for an expired parking coupon. The notice gave the URL to pay fine as www.ura.gov.sg/pf.
I went to this website, entered by car number and was shown the webpage below. Payment was quite straight forward. It was helpful of URA to direct me to the direct page with their URL.

If websites are designed properly, they can be helpful to the public. So, credit goes to URA for making it easy to pay a fine with a meaningful URL. I hope that other government agencies will apply their common sense to make life better for the public.
By the way, the last time that I paid a fine for URA was a few years ago. It was quite troublesome to find the right page to pay the fine. So, I suggested that they give the actual page with a ..../payfine. They have now implemented my suggestion, but they did not tell me about it. This is the bad culture in Singapore that has to change.

Are you hoping to pay more fines? Not telling you abt it could be a subtle way of wishing you "no more fines".
Although it would be good to just publicize on their webpage but that will also draw criticism as some may interpret that as money grabbing and boosting the coffers through more fines.
@patrol. Your remark is uncalled for. If I have to pay a fine, I prefer a convenient way to pay it, instead of a lot of hassle.
I have learnt not to volunteer ideas.
When I was working for a GLC, as a graded staff, there was a channel called "staff ideas in action".
I was young and gullible person, thinking that my ideas would help display my attitude towards team work and innovative abilities.
The staff ideas would be vetted, selected and submitted through many layers of 'executives'.
Out of 45 ideas over a period of 2 years, only 2 was accepted by higher authority and I received a pen as a token. Though these 2 ideas were never implemented.
However, within the same period, the company introduced 3 changes that appeared to be very similar with my other ideas. These were attributed to 'executives' having identified the problems and these changes were in repsonse to them.
Little did I know that during the vetting process, these 'executives read through all the ideas and to save awarding recognition,( which was a monetary value ) they would adopt is as their own!
Henceforth, I now keep my ideas to myself and implement them on my terms. Sort of copyright style.
@Anonymous 9.37 pm. I encourage you to continue to give your ideas, even if someone steals them from you. One day, you will be recognized and rewarded. In the meantime, we can only point out the bad culture.

You felt the same way as Anonymous 9.37, when you griped that Gerald Ee copied your recommendations on the Ministerial Pay reduction scale, and yet you dun get any credit for it.
Anon has the right to feel sore too, when his bosses snatched his original ideas away, made some alterations, and claimed credit for themselves. Believe this happens in many Organisations in Singapore, esp the GLCs and Govt Agencies.
@yuyuan. You might have misunderstood my comments. Although the final recommendation is quite close to what I had suggested, there must be a efw other people who have made similar suggestions, so it would not be fair for me to claim the entire credit. It would have been better if at least one committee member would have talk to each contributor and have a short dialogue.
I hope they can make exchanged of parking coupons wrongly with wrongly-torn tabs simple too, instead of having to go down to HDB office.
Such coupon should have fewer than 5 tabs torn, indicating they have not been used.
through my years of driving and using parking coupons... i've torn my coupons wrongly about a dozen times... my simple solution, use a pen and clearly, circle the wrongly torn number and write a polite remark next to it or at a clear space on the coupon: "Sorry, tore wrongly :) "... never had any summons, kudos to the wardens for their understanding. please do not ever try to use such genuine requests to get away with cheating.
