Compare TCC to Tan Cheng Bok.
Toh fought and complied for the sake of his own conviction, for the sake of Singapore.
On the surface, Tan fought for the people, but he did not have the guts to fight for his own conviction to the end when the need arose, unlike Toh. Tan knew the arrests of the so-called Marxists were based on flimsy grounds, but he chickened out in the end, and joined his yes men colleagues to say "aye aye Sir" in Parliament.

TCC kept his PAP membership card.
TCB resigned his membership.

TCC cannot change his legacy anymore.
TCB's legacy has yet to be finalized.

The young Singaporeans in their teens and 20's will decide the historical interpretations.

My generation of daft Singaporeans who gave us this government will soon be no more.

With the passing away of Dr. Toh Chin Chye and only Mr. Ong Pang Boon left. Singapore is facing a very serious 'Leadership Crisis' politically. The kind of leadership style that can really energize and mobilize the people to realise the 'Singapore Dream'. Anyone cares to share?

So Tan Cheng Bok is still a PAP Man, with notions of leaving a "legacy" like the Grandmaster.
Sorry, we dun consider Tan of old guard material.
Hope that Bok realise voters are making use of him as strategic candidate in the PE, not out of any love or hope on him. If we could support him, we could also drop him unceremoniously like a hot potato.
Many of the respected old guards were forced to resign, either physically or psychologically, on the surface to make way for so-called "new blood". It's only a facade to bring in mediocre, hollow headed, obedient blood, who could be bought over by money, as long as they could be used as diam diam robots to follow instructions.
Michael 13 is absolutely right -
there is a leadership vacuum in the PAP hierachy.
It dun bode well for Singapore's future, and this is worrying.

Leadership crisis happens only in the opposition, and most of the time.

Do you see any leadership or what not crisis happening in PAP like those in the opposition? In fact, not at all.

That's why at least 60% majority voters supported PAP all the time, for obvious reasons.

And with that, what leadership crisis in Singapore are you talking about?

Of course there is great inequality, too many foreigners, expensive HDB and so on, but that does not mean it is a crisis for Singapore, leadership or whatever.

Contd here.
Take the case of the SMRT train disruptions. The newly minted Transport Minister had to cry for daddy PM Lee's help to placate commuters' anger.
PM Lee had to disrupt his leave and return to handle matters.
Take the scenario of a terrorist attack, let's say the Grandmaster has gone to heaven and the PM is saddled with health problem issues,
now who could take up the crutch to hold the nation together.
Could Shanmugan or Uncle Teo lead, glue and mobilize the people? All decisions are in the hands of the Lee family so far, frankly the two men above have not been given a chance to prove themselves yet to lead a country, even our PM on occasions, still need the father to hold his hands, to come out to speak for him.

GE 2016 will be a 'REAL TEST' for political leadership crisis' talks. The electorates will decide the outcome. In fact, many loyal citizens like me very much wish to be proven wrong. But somehow, the recent events and behaviours of the tops lead me to think and conclude otherwise.
